Still life paintings

A still life painting of red cherries on a blue and white patterned Japanese plate, set against a blue and beige check tablecloth background with painterly shadows.
My still life paintings celebrate the quiet beauty of ordinary things: gathered flowers, seasonal fruit, treasured ceramics and objects collected over time.

I’m drawn to the way light moves across a table, the character held in an old vessel, and the small arrangements that make a home feel lived in and loved. Working primarily in oils, I use expressive colour, layered brushwork and shifting light to explore memory, comfort and nostalgia.

Portraits & Interiors

A painterly portrait of a calm interior scene with flowers. A painted domestic scene showing a woman reclining by a large window, wrapped in a green and pink floral blanket, with a black dog beside her. A small table with flowers and fruit sits to the left, and the outdoor garden is visible through the window.
My portraits of pets and people are paintings about belonging.

Inspired by the idea that an interior can become a portrait of the person who inhabits it: a dog curled into a favourite chair, someone reading by a window, familiar rooms filled with afternoon light. These works explore character through place, colour, gesture and memory. Working primarily in oils, I use expressive brushwork and intimate compositions to capture companionship, domestic ritual and the collected details that quietly tell the story of a life.

Landscape paintings

A large textured Australian landscape painting of rolling hills and valleys, with golden-yellow fields in the foreground, green gum trees on the right, and distant blue-gray hills under a pale sky. View looking out the Lake George in New South Wales.
Rather than recording a landscape exactly as it appears, I’m interested in capturing what it feels like to stand within it: the space, stillness and vastness of an Australian sky.

Often beginning en plein air, these works grow from direct observation and the experience of being immersed in the landscape. Back in the studio, I use layered colour, expressive brushwork and contrasts between thin, translucent passages and buttery, textured oil paint to explore atmosphere, memory and connection to place.
