This one’s for the lovers of lazy afternoons and well-styled corners. A golden hour painting capturing light-dappled flowers, citrus tones, and a quiet joy.

Golden Hour in the Orange Grove began after one of those particularly lovely afternoons involving a citrus cocktail, possibly two, a stack of unread coffee table books nearby, and golden light spilling across my tablecloth.

The light caught the olive-green glass vase and the flowers so beautifully that I had to paint it. Everything felt quiet and still, but full of colour and life.

There’s something quietly hypnotic about the way light and shadows in still life painting can lift a humble little moment and make it feel magical.

This piece is a playful ode to Australian still life painting, Golden Hour in the Orange Grove is your daily reminder to slow down and soak up the light.

Meet the Artist

Hello, I'm Rebecca Eddison, an Australian artist creating original oil paintings inspired by travel, nature, and the beautiful objects that quietly collect around a life well lived.

I believe the homes we love most are never decorated overnight. They are thoughtfully collected over time, layered with memories, heirlooms, favourite books, wild garden flowers, and treasures gathered from travels near and far. My paintings are created with that same philosophy of collected living, celebrating the stories, colours and places that make a house feel deeply personal.

Working primarily in oils, I paint expressive still lifes, landscapes and figurative works from my Queensland studio, while also heading outdoors whenever I can to paint en plein air. Sketchbooks, photographs and quick studies become the starting point for larger paintings, helping me capture not just how a place looked, but how it felt. I have an incurable magpie's eye for patterned textiles, weathered pottery, vintage finds and timeworn objects, many of which find their way into my compositions.

Before becoming a full-time artist, I studied Interior Design, and that love of colour has never left me. Rather than simply recording what I see, I use colour as a language of mood, layering expressive brushwork to evoke warmth, nostalgia and the quiet beauty of everyday life.

My hope is that each painting becomes more than something beautiful to hang on a wall. I want it to become part of your own story, bringing colour, conversation and a sense of artful living into your home. Because life moves quickly enough already. Sometimes the greatest luxury is simply having something beautiful that reminds us to pause.
