Keep Your Art Looking Its Best: 3 Simple steps

How to take care you artwork or print. I wanted to share some simple care tips to ensure it stays as vibrant as the day it arrived.

Here’s how to care for your artwork:

1. Avoid Direct Sunlight: Even the most resilient paints can fade in strong sunlight. Choose a spot with indirect lighting to keep colours fresh and vivid. Of course it you have strong UV protection on your windows it should be fine.

2. Dust Gently: A soft, dry cloth will do the trick. If removing the varnish on an oil painting, no harsh chemicals, please! Just use Gamblin Gamsol, wear gloves and have a room with good ventilation. Keeping your print/artwork behind glass is the best way to keep dust away - lots of framers have special protective glass and anti-reflection options.

3. Framing Matters: If you’ve framed your piece, ensure it’s properly secured to avoid sagging over time. If your frame keeps shifting around and won't sit straight, use blue tac to secure one corner.

Remember, art is meant to be loved and enjoyed. Display it proudly, and don’t be afraid to rearrange it now and again to keep your space feeling fresh!

I’m always here if you’re curious about adding another piece to your collection. Make sure you are subscribed to The artful postcard, for artful living inspiration, news and exclusive offers.

Thanks again for supporting my studio, and I hope your artwork continues to bring joy for years to come.

Here’s to artful days and cozy nights,

Bec x
