The Art of Stillness - still life and landscape painting

There’s a quiet poetry in the way golden evening light spills gently through a window, or in the serene stillness of a dog nestled in sleep. "The Art of Stillness" a meeting ground for still life and landscape painting that invites you to savour these moments when life slows. I have been exploring colour through a romantic impressionist lens, focusing not on precise depictions, but on using colours to evoke atmosphere and mood.

Painted with expressive, layered brushwork, this collection draws from my travel sketchbooks filled with fleeting impressions of sunlit landscapes and their rich textures. My magpie instincts on full display, my compositions are full of collected patterned textiles, aged heirlooms, and mementos, sparking nostalgia and connections.

Oil paint is a forgiving companion compared to the fickle nature of watercolour. I find painting such a mindful and all-encompassing pursuit that I often lose myself for hours. Joel, bless him, returns home to find a colourful apparition who used to be his wife, having once again forgotten lunch. Ever the gentleman, he quietly makes tea and toast as we settle to admire the day’s creative musings.

hello,

I'm Rebecca Eddison, an oil painter dancing between vibrant landscapes and intimate still-life compositions. My work, playful yet reflective, explores colour and light, striving to capture the beauty in those quiet, unguarded moments. Passionate about storytelling, I infuse my art with collected textiles and mementos that connect us to shared histories. I create art as a soothing balm to a fast paced world.

Art hits at the heart of what it is to be human, seeing the textures and happy accidents that can only be crafted by hand connects us all. I hope you find something you love here
