Peach Tones – Australian Outback Landscape is a framed oil painting capturing the soft blush of a South Australian afternoon. A soft, romantic take on the usually fiery red outback. With its blush, terracotta, and sun-faded greens, it’s perfect for quiet corners, calming nooks, or anywhere your wall could do with a gentle sigh of colour.

We were mid-road trip, bumping along some remote stretch of the South Australian Bite, half-lost and wholly happy. You know the kind—sun on your arm, wind through the windows, and the smell of hot grass before the rain. That afternoon the clouds started loitering ominously, but (in true desert fashion) never followed through. Not so much as a drizzle. Just a whisper of threat, hanging above a landscape glowing with peach, blush, and terracotta tones.

I snapped a photo and painted this one back in the studio. I wanted to capture the faded, bleached-out colours you only get when the outback's been softened by the sun and a storm that didn’t bother arriving. The grasses were the palest green, like someone washed out the colour with a hose. Soft, earthy, and somehow both wild and restful.

About the artist

I'm Rebecca Eddison, an artist finding joy in the authentic textures of oil and watercolour. I capture the world through figurative, landscape, and still-life paintings. Practising art as a warm hug for the soul—it’s all about how colour can tickle emotions and stir up delightful nostalgia in all of us.

Armed with a spirited joie de vivre and an unquenchable thirst for travel, I paint not just to decorate, but to sprinkle moments of pause, colour, and joyous conversation into your home.

My creative journey is fueled by travel, plein air painting, photography, and countless sketchbooks filled with fleeting inspirations. I have a magpie-like obsession with patterned textiles and aged heirlooms, those charming objects with a story to tell, which often find their way into my compositions.

With a background in Interior Design, I can't resist the allure of colour theory. I layer hues with expressive brushwork, exploring its ability to transform the mood.

Think of each piece as a little reminder to savour life’s simple pleasures, embrace nature, and pat yourself on the back for making your home brighter.
