Loose and colourful seafood painting with bright red and pink mackerel tins perched against playful stripes, there’s a cheeky charm to this round still life. The bold, saturated colours and the rhythmic stripes in the background create a lively rhythm, turning a humble tin into a homage to seaside picnics and summer markets.

It’s a conversation starter for kitchens, cafés, or coastal homes, a splash of humour and warmth that nods to nostalgic tins of seaside holidays and fish-and-chips wrapped in paper. Inspired by a love of the bold designs on Mackerel tins (these are actually a salt and pepper shaker I bought in Denmark.

About the artist

I'm Rebecca Eddison, an artist finding joy in the authentic textures of oil and watercolour. I capture the world through figurative, landscape, and still-life paintings. Practising art as a warm hug for the soul—it’s all about how colour can tickle emotions and stir up delightful nostalgia in all of us.

Armed with a spirited joie de vivre and an unquenchable thirst for travel, I paint not just to decorate, but to sprinkle moments of pause, colour, and joyous conversation into your home.

My creative journey is fueled by travel, plein air painting, photography, and countless sketchbooks filled with fleeting inspirations. I have a magpie-like obsession with patterned textiles and aged heirlooms, those charming objects with a story to tell, which often find their way into my compositions.

With a background in Interior Design, I can't resist the allure of colour theory. I layer hues with expressive brushwork, exploring its ability to transform the mood.

Think of each piece as a little reminder to savour life’s simple pleasures, embrace nature, and pat yourself on the back for making your home brighter.
