This one’s for the lovers of lazy afternoons and well-styled corners. A golden hour painting capturing light-dappled flowers, citrus tones, and a quiet joy.

I started Golden Hour in the Orange Grove after a particularly dreamy afternoon that involved a citrus cocktail (possibly two), a stack of unread coffee table books poised nearby, and golden light spilling across my block-printed tablecloth through an olive-green vase. Everything felt still… but somehow full. The translucence of the glass caught the light with such brilliance—it was a fleeting, magical moment.

I’d filled the vase with wax flowers and silver dollar eucalyptus and plonked it in the centre like a crown jewel. There’s something quietly hypnotic about the way light and shadows in still life painting can lift a humble little moment and make it feel magical.

This piece is a playful ode to Australian still life painting—for those who love the hush of afternoon sun, the flicker of leaves casting patterned shadows on the wall, and the simple beauty of a lovingly styled corner. Golden Hour in the Orange Grove is your daily reminder to slow down and soak up the light.

About the artist

I'm Rebecca Eddison, an artist finding joy in the authentic textures of oil and watercolour. I capture the world through figurative, landscape, and still-life paintings. Practising art as a warm hug for the soul—it’s all about how colour can tickle emotions and stir up delightful nostalgia in all of us.

Armed with a spirited joie de vivre and an unquenchable thirst for travel, I paint not just to decorate, but to sprinkle moments of pause, colour, and joyous conversation into your home.

My creative journey is fueled by travel, plein air painting, photography, and countless sketchbooks filled with fleeting inspirations. I have a magpie-like obsession with patterned textiles and aged heirlooms, those charming objects with a story to tell, which often find their way into my compositions.

With a background in Interior Design, I can't resist the allure of colour theory. I layer hues with expressive brushwork, exploring its ability to transform the mood.

Think of each piece as a little reminder to savour life’s simple pleasures, embrace nature, and pat yourself on the back for making your home brighter.
