A quiet morning moment, caught just as the sun starts to make dappled shadow over the breakfast table. This painting savours the last cluster of ripe cherries from Summer resting on an old Japanese plate. Beneath it, dappled morning shadows move gently across the scene, suggesting an open window, fresh air, and the hush of early hours.

Painted while farm sitting in Gundaroo, there’s a tenderness to this piece, an invitation to slow down and notice the poetry of everyday objects.

The rich reds of the cherries glow against the cool blues, creating a calm, balanced harmony. Perfect for kitchens, dining spaces, or anywhere you want to bring a sense of stillness and simple beauty, this painting offers a small daily reminder that the ordinary can be exquisite when you pause long enough to see it.

About the artist

I'm Rebecca Eddison, an artist finding joy in the authentic textures of oil and watercolour. I capture the world through figurative, landscape, and still-life paintings. Practising art as a warm hug for the soul—it’s all about how colour can tickle emotions and stir up delightful nostalgia in all of us.

Armed with a spirited joie de vivre and an unquenchable thirst for travel, I paint not just to decorate, but to sprinkle moments of pause, colour, and joyous conversation into your home.

My creative journey is fueled by travel, plein air painting, photography, and countless sketchbooks filled with fleeting inspirations. I have a magpie-like obsession with patterned textiles and aged heirlooms, those charming objects with a story to tell, which often find their way into my compositions.

With a background in Interior Design, I can't resist the allure of colour theory. I layer hues with expressive brushwork, exploring its ability to transform the mood.

Think of each piece as a little reminder to savour life’s simple pleasures, embrace nature, and pat yourself on the back for making your home brighter.
